Kai is going to be a firefighter when he grows up. Or so he claims. He wants to “save people who are trouble”. In my mind that means he would become a lawyer…or a psychiatrist, but he insists that would make him a firefighter.
After his career as a linebacker, I think Ryder might have a chance as a chef. As soon as I migrate to the kitchen to make dinner he follows announcing he wants to “mix and stir” and provided I am baking or making something “just because” that is great. It’s a little less great at 5:45pm, when in 15 minutes the family expects to sit down and have dinner. That’s when the Curious George, Word World, Super Why or Dinosaur Train comes in with a snack. Works wonders.
When he sees the spice cabinet open. The spice cabinet is probably one of the most intriguing (and tasteful) cabinets in the kitchen, according to my little Chef-in-diapers. From age 1 ½ he has been smelling spices, oils and vinegars (yes, vinegars) whenever he gets a chance. We have now moved on to tasting…
Turmeric, onion powder, curry powder, balsamic vinegar, white wine vinegar, black pepper, it all needs experiencing.
I swear, he is a little foodie – in every sense of the word and even though it might be challenging at times, I hope that his passion for products in and from the kitchen will last a lifetime.
Until next time,
Savor food, savor family, savor life.
