Fresh flowers make me happy and though Kai & Ryder are the life of the party here, fresh flowers bring a different sort of life, cheer and happiness to our living environment. Maybe it’s because it’s the season, maybe it’s me getting more in touch with my “inner self”, but whatever the reason, these days the color yellow is BIG in my life. With my pale skin I can absolutely not wear anything yellow, BUT that doesn’t mean I cannot surround myself with the color that simply makes me happy.
Apparently, the cheerful yellow color of the sun is associated with laughter, happiness and good times. (Color Psychology & Marketing, Precision Intermedia.) When surrounded by yellow, you would feel optimistic as it triggers the brain to actually release more seratonin (the feel good chemical). So, check out what I have in my kitchen:
Now before you get too excited, yellow, when intense, is the color of flames and studies show babies cry more in (bright) yellow rooms and tempers flare more around that color too. I haven’t noticed that so much yet though. Personally, I feel that it is not so much the colors I am surrounded with that trigger my temper to flare, as it is the not-so-nice people (I said that very nicely, didn’t I?) I encounter occasionally. (There’s a whole other story behind that, but I’m keeping that for another day.)
But wait! There’s more! The color yellow has the power to speed up our metabolism, it enhances our concentration and it stimulates creativity (note pads are yellow for that reason – did you know that?!). Finally, it can also be associated with intellectual thinking: memory, clear thinking, decision-making and good judgment. It aids organization, understanding of different points of view and it builds self-confidence and encourages optimism.
On that note, allow me to bring to your attention: my Happy Pineapple-Tini:
I am not sure if it truly will help my organizational skills, and if it will benefit my “clear thinking”, but I am absolutely certain that it will encourage optimism and might even stimulate my creativity. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to know, while you sip away this glass of pure happiness?
Until next time,
Savor food, savor family, savor life.
